DOUBT
both thumbs up. see it when you want to talk to the other person you're seeing it with afterwards.
GRAND TORINO
both thumbs. tugs the heart strings. eastwood in all possible ways
SEVEN POUNDS
egh.
CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON
gotta love kate blanchette. pretty good. the inner workings of brad pitts character has some inconsistencies that they sort of glossed over by giving him alzhemiers when he reaches 15 or so.
VALKYRIE
can't go wrong with tom cruise. I sort of knew this story occured, but I never knew it's bigness and they did a good job conveying the intensity of what the experience might've been.
SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE
danny boyle is always innovative. the indian actors in this film are really good. sometimes I feel like danny boyle's movies with little children are a little too gimmicy and they take on more than what is a believeable amount of maturity. sort of a violent film as well.
MILK
they sort of ruined the story's suspense by giving away so much of the ending up front. however I never realized how big of an influence harvey milk was on today's acceptance of alternative sexual orientations.
REVOLUTIONARY ROAD
sam mendes makes you think. sort of sad. typical kate winslet ending. very interesting though if you're a couple probably. I would think it would insult a lot of people who were not open to self-questioning.
FROST/NIXON
fascinating. frost was sort of a paper bag for most of the movie. teaches you the importance of preparation in anything you want success in. nixon again was always his own worst enemy and undoing.
FOUR CHRISTMASES
nice. nowhere near 'family store' or 'this christmas' in endear-ability, but nice little tale of a midwestern family.
TRANSPORTER3
better than the 2nd if it's possible. not quite as much action as #1 and #2, but on story alone this is the best of the 3. hopefully they will make another.
